“I consider myself a late bloomer as an artist. After turning 50 my ultimate goal was to become my most authentic self, and for me that meant embracing my creative side. A side of me that I always knew was present, but had been stifled by other expectations… and my own fears.
There’s a psychological component to my work as I’ve always been introspective and intrigued by the power of emotions. At times, my work is a response to cultural or political influences. Often, the underlying theme is more personal, based on self reflection and discovery. However, the greatest inspiration for my artwork is nature. I love being playful with texture and color, mimicking the imagery of the natural world but transforming it into something more nebulous and interpretive.
As I embark on this artistic journey, my day-to-day practice is grounded in pushing past fear, listening to my instincts, and embracing the beauty of imperfection.”
